About Joshua Inwood

Hi! I am a human geographer focused on the intersections of place, power and race and the way this affects the making of space and place. My work covers a range of topics including landscape studies, white supremacy, the Geographies of the Civil Rights Movement as well as the Geographies of Peace. At its core my work seeks to understand the ways human lives are made vulnerable by what Geographer and prison abolitionist Ruth Wilson Gilmore describes as racisms “death dealing displacements.” These interests often mean I collaborate with community groups and interested local activists who are involved in struggles to tell stories and remake their communities in more just ways.
